Chanvre Beef

Chanvre Beef is our brand of hemp fed beef. Omega started looking closely at hemp foods in the context of an existing premium grass-fed beef farming operation in South-Western Australia which we had access to. This was on the back of research we had read regarding feeding trials in the United States examining the nutritional value of hemp seeds as a feed for livestock because of its high protein levels and we also knew of a local hemp forage trial on sheep. We wanted to see if we could apply this to the cattle on our local farming operation, not just to make the cattle healthier, but also to enhance the end product (beef).

We wanted to make an already amazing grass feed beef product even better. Our team developed a hemp livestock feed mix specifically for cattle and ran a small-scale livestock feed study. At the end of the study, we tested the meat for omega 3s and 6s and other parameters and the results were outstanding. We named our beef brand CHANVRE beef (which is the French word for hemp) and have developed plans to commercialize it further.
